Posted Date: 12/10/25 (03:19 PM)

Rensselaer Jr.-Sr. High School is proud to share that senior Adriana Roberts has been accepted into the Capital Region Delegation of the Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute. As part of the program, Hudson Valley Community College is offering English 125: Public Speaking online to students who are selected. The PRHYLI program helps Hispanic students build leadership skills, learn from positive role models, and better understand how the New York State Legislature works. It also brings students, educators, and community leaders together to learn from one another. Over about six months, students study topics such as leadership, civic engagement, democracy, public speaking, and how state government and the legislative process work.

Students who take part in PRHYLI may also be good candidates for the New York State Seal of Biliteracy, since their advocacy project can count toward the requirements. The program also connects with the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness, which recognizes students who show strong civic knowledge, skills, and participation.

Congratulations to Adriana on this achievement!

A gold trophy with a ram's head is featured on a congratulatory certificate.
